That would require it being connected to the ECU then? Yet I don't think there's a connector on it... Only the coolant feeds.

Good point!

You can see the route it takes in this pic. No electrical connectors.

Hmmm... After reading just 3 of his posts, he seems like a very patient, friendly and helpful kind of chap...

Yeah that is what I thought

I can find lots of examples of people doing the coolant TB bypass mod but no-one saying what it was originally for or how it did it.

I thought it might be a heater for the butterfly plate, in case of freezing

I was thinking it was something like that but if the engine is stone cold, so would the coolant so it would be unable to warm anything :?

Sooooo then. I followed that esculater quite quickly and ended up here.

So I'll delete it...adjust the idle to compensate and basically just keep adjusting to find a happy place.

So really no different from my twin carbed 3rd gen. I was alwYs adjusting the idle on the carbs.

The Fitv is mechanically controlled and basically stays open on cold and as coolant flows through a wax substance inside heats up and shuts the valve so on cold start proper A/f is maintained.

Iacv is electronic and adjust idle according to vacuum and coolant temp after fitv is done.
