Lightweight doors 4th gen

Post by gb-lude » Thu Mar 05, 2015 10:54 am

Hi Guys,

As some of you know I'm trying to finish my time attack turbo build.
As I have gutted everything but installed a full and (heavy) cage I still want to save more weight.
I know Richy Voaden has taken it to extreme but don't think he has special doors.
Now my doors are fully stripped and I have lexan windows installed but they still weigh a ton!

Already emailed fiberworks about custom doors .

Does anyone know a place were they can make fiberglass doors for the prelude? Uk based not in the states.

Is anyone else interested?

Let me know!

I have never seen anyone with fibreglass or carbon doors. I'm fairly sure Rich has stripped down OEM doors.

If you do find something let me know as I would deffo want a set.

Imo not one is thinking Ariel atom enough.

Get a nice solid cage and then remove all metal all together.

You could give these guys a shout. They're right near me, as is Fibreworx.

Have you removed as much of the internal skin as possible, leaving a lip to fix a CF panel too?

Thanx, will wait what the rest says first. If they are that close, maybe you can drop by to have a chat with them in person? That always works better.

And yes, doors are fully gutted striped and bottom even drilled . Still think they are way too heavy..
Civic doors are available as are integra doors .. Surprised richy never had them made!
We're is he anyway :|

I've met Alex from Fibreworx a couple of times now. I was only texting him the other day about getting some CF cloth and resins from him, so I might be seeing him soon anyway :)

I reckon it's the frame that has all the weight?
