Ok so , I thought I would try and see if I could turn the engine over with a socket on the bottom pulley . Got about 4 turns then stops. When I took the spark plugs out I found one had been smashed . I thinking I might have thrown a rod. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wsumjkksuhcld ... 9.jpg?dl=0

Oh crap man. Looks like it might have been your belt then... At least it's easier/cheaper to replace the head than sort the bottom end out :?

Perfect time to pick up an A7 head then as A8 heads a thin on the ground I reckon, and you're not going to want to replace your A8 with an A5 setup.

Wow considering the plug sits in a slight well, I bet your right chap, done a rod in or the big end cap let go. That's the most common one
