Haha, my apologises I'm mearly researching really to see what's best before I spend out lol. I'm only thinking around 300-320bhp
But like anything if you over engineer it, it'll last :) OEM turbo cars don't break down every day so it must be down to individual builds lol
Oh wow, i may have worded my post really badly and sounded like a complete gentleman's sausage.

I have run plenty of open deck blocks with plenty of power and not had any problems. Like i said i've neevr seen a non race car actually crack an open deck. Our puny little sub 500hp dont create the sort of maaaad cylinder pressures to do it imo.

Although in my research i have seen you can get deck guards (i think they're called) that look like they could strengthen it. Although I wont be bothering with it on mine.
No not at all :)
Ah ok that's good that's good to know You seem to know your boosting stuff lol.
What's the specs on your 500bhp ? Is it on here.
Be interesting to see what you've done :)

Thank you.

woa woa woa I wouldnt go that far lol its more experience through trial and error and a cracked block isnt an error i've encountered

My open deck legacy ran 350 and wheel fun horses for a few years and an impreza that was close to that. Not quite managed to get anything to 500 yet (wow! I really shoudl take more pictures of my stuff lol I have 1 pic of my legacy and its when i broke it!)

My old evo powered proton was good fun but that was closed deck

But when you look at how much stress the engine suffers in a 400-500 motor compared to 8-900 it shows how mild our meagre builds are.

As long as you have a good tune (no knock) and reasonable intake temps I wouldnt worry about paying extra or going out of your way to find a closed deck. I plan on doing mine soonish and Im going to buy the cheapest h22 i can find and build it up slowly. Deck type doesnt concern me.

Ah I see, my bad, I thought you'd had open deck big hp preludes  I'm guessing the subaru sand evo engines will be better suited to the turbo since they were made that way lol.

Nice cars mate bet that proton was crazy fast lol.

I'll keep researching, knowledge is power and all that
