Fitting a Fidanza Flywheel

Post by NafemanNathan » Fri May 08, 2015 10:10 pm

What was the deal with the Fidanza flywheel before fitting?

Was it a case of best to remove the friction plate bolts and re-thread-lock them or something?

I very vaguely remember something back from the PUK days, but can't recall what.

Mark up the timing marks with paint or something as they aren't easily visible.

If your reusing the bolts then thread lock them. New bolts should be threadlocked too afaik.

 No. Having decided I don't want to use the Fidanza on the project, I thought I may as well get it fitted on the 5th gen if the current flywheel has to come off to sort a potential crankshaft rear main oil seal ;)

I think unless your thrashing it with a paddle clutch then it's not really worth worrying about but the story is the steel plate can come slack. I've tightened all the bolts and put a small dab of weld over the end of the nut to bolt so it'll never release but also be a bitch to ever replace!

Of course I haven't tested it yet :(, but imo always thread lock the main crank bolts, it doesn't make it to difficult to remove in the future but should keep the beast in its place.
