So what to do?
So what to do?
Hey all,
So what to do...just wondering if I can get some help or suggestions.
So I absolutely love my Lude and want to stay in the Lude Family, but not sure how to go forward from here.
I have a 4g F22b Auto and love how it drives and handles, but I really want a manual and preferably a vtec. Ive also been told my import may be restricted and can have some extra horses gained by chipping??
Now, question is, do I go about all this by converting my current Lude or getting a new one and selling mine on?
Got about 7-800 quid to spend on a new motor as some would be recovered from selling old car or around 500 for conversion/chipping or upgrades.
Any thoughts folks?
Cheers

This one is simple, IMO.
If your current shell is good, then do an engine/box swap.
Your current car isn't restricted bhp wise due to being an import, it is only (possibly) restricted max mph wise.
There's no cheap gain bhp-wise from your existing F22b after you've done exhaust, because there is no sleepy/nucleustylzelude chip for that engine (IIRC
), so it would require a 'proper' ecu upgrade and tune, which is expensive. Even then, it would not reach the power of a standard h22.
The cheapest power upgrade for it will be a manual conversion, engine swap to h22 and nucleustlyzlude chip (with that exhaust I have for you
).
On the other hand, if your current shell is rusty, then you might as well try to find a less rusty one with an h22 already in it and sell your existing.

Do you mean car? Genuine querychris1811 wrote:Got about 7-800 quid to spend on a new motor...

I'd say most of the decision making for me would be on how solid your existing lude is. Is it completely rust-free? Are all the bushes and suspension in great nick? If so, you may struggle to find a Vtec lude in better condition, and so that would be good enough reason to do an engine swap.
The shell is absolutely bob on. Only bit of rust I've found was around the edge of the sunroof under the seals which I've sorted.
Other than that and being milano pink it's a tasty shell. Like I said I love the car, but just want abit more and the ability to track it, especially living 10 mins from Donnington race track
Yea restriction wise I meant the MPH not bhp. The dial only foes up to 180kph so roughly 110 MPH. The needle does go a tad further and then the cat seems like it can do so much more bit just doesn't.

So yeah, you'll struggle to find a good example of a VTEC for £800 these days unless you're extremely lucky and find a clueless owner.
On the other hand unless you're considering fitting an engine yourself/with mates then £500 won't get you a Vtec engine fitted either, and then you're wanting a manual conversion on top of that
£500 is the price of a low mileage H22a. Then you'll be looking at £200-£250 for an M2B4 Prelude LSD box, or closer to £400 for a better more track orientated ATR U2Q7 LSD box.
