Do I do it....

Post by jjmartin349571 » Wed Sep 05, 2012 11:06 pm

Guys, I've got a dilemma - an imported BB1 has come up for sale nearby and it looks like it could go cheap. It looks easily in as good nick as my one, and I think it's phantom grey pearl too, a BB1 dead ringer of my BB4 bar a few aftermarket body parts 8-) I've had my Xsara listed for sale on Gumtree for a week at a silly high price to see if anyone suitably silly bought it, so I could drop the price on that to shift it and buy the Prelude. To make matters worse my girlfriend, who usually shoots down all my moronic ideas, has just said it would be cool to have another Prelude and that she doesn't mind us buying it  I'm probably barking up the wrong tree on this forum, but somebody stop me before I buy another petrol raping money pit. I only think I want it to see how cool 4ws looks  Owning 2 matching Preludes would be epic, but I can just picture the insurance every month :scaredtoss:

drokking eBay

Would the second Prelude be your girlfriend's then?

If it's just for you, I'd say there's no point owning two Preludes, unless one of them becomes a track toy that you upgrade. What's the point in having two just because one has 4WS and one doesn't? You'll find out which you prefer to drive and just want to drive that one.

You're quite right there - out of the Golf, Prelude and Xsara I have to make a real effort to change which car I drive. If I don't think I just get in the same one constantly. The Xsara is slow and boring though, and my girlfriend loves the Prelude so much that I don't get to drive it anymore :( I'd like to have my own one, but I use so much petrol. Saying that, my girlfriend has been getting amazing fuel economy from the Prelude, I was gobsmacked to see how much difference her driving style made  I was so convinced she was lying and had topped up with cheap fuel that I checked our online banking to check she hadn't

Plan 8-) it has a nice spoiler, sideskirts, rear light covers and wheels. It's the facelift model too so bits inside to nick.

Guess I'll have to see if the Xsara can sell in a few days :?

Not really worth it for the facelift bits. That'll be the tweeter covers and the EL dials from inside. The centre console and everything related to it is too big an effort to swap. Then from outside, it's just the wheels if they're still OEM, the nostrils and maybe the indicators/headlights.

It's got sweet wheels, skirts and a spoiler though 8-) I might look up insurance and see how expensive it'd be for us both to have Preludes as daily's. The only reason my BB4 is so expensive atm is because I used my no claims on the Xsara for some reason I've forgotten :?

lol I completely agree it's pointless owning 2 ludes. Especially when they both have 4WS.

What sort of :tosser: would do that eh???

 :D

Is the BB1 a UKDM or JDM? JDMs are far more expensive to insure than UKDMs. That would be another reason to buy it and keep both... ;)
