A bit of a contradiction in that ad:

"This Engine Comes with 3 MONTHS GUARANTEE (As long As Your Car Is Running Standard)"

"TO CLARIFY THIS NO ALTERNATOR, STARTER MOTOR, TURBO'S, MANIFOLDS, ECU, WIRING LOOMS, BOLT ON BITS ETC."

Where are you going to find a H23 VTEC ECU :? ?

Yeah I saw this earlier today, I don't think it's the first time he's tried to sell it to be honest. But with an ad like that I'm not surprised. I'm not sure who he's gonna sell it to here in the uk that would actually want to put it in the same car as what it came from. Might be nice in a civic or crx though, massive torque !!

Yeah it would. But it would be non-standard and probably invalidate their guarantee.

 True, true...

Seriously though, if they've been trying to sell it for a while, I suspect if you spoke to them you could get agreement on the guarantee for alternative fitment?

I had a similar thing when I bought a used engine (for another car) and a new exhaust manifold. Their ads said must be fitted by professional mechanic. I got in touch before I bought and said I wanted to fit it myself but wanted the guarantee to stand, then listed out my engineering qualifications and they replied and said ok, that's fine then, we'll honour it! :D

This place is in Derby about 15 mins away from me, they're muppets down there to be honest.

I asked them for pictures of the actual engine and a close up of the stamp on the block two years ago. They said they'd send them to me shortly.

... I'm still waiting.
