I am so sorry for your loss mate. I love my cats so much and it pains me to think of you there with this loss in your heart. My eyes are leaking...
It hurts so much when they go. So much. I wish I could take this pain away from you Paul. You have had enough by my reckoning and deserve a better time of it. Please know it is shared by somone who understands the bond and trust that can develop between a damaged cat personality and the person who brings them back to love.
The pain lets you know you are still alive, inside. In that place that hardens as the world knocks us and takes its pound of flesh. You are still a human being with love inside you. Your cat knew this love well and was drawn to your warmth. You offered a safe place and she knew it, and appreciated it.
Its a cliche but its true. They occupy but a small section of our lives but we are all of theirs. The love we give them is unconditional and leaves you hollow when its gone but the memories will come back soon enough. You did everything within your power to give her a life of happiness and her time with you was the happiest of her life. Be proud.

Sorry to hear your sad news Paul. I love cats (Well all animals), but I can't walk past a cat without trying to beckon it over
Got two myself, a brother and sister (Hank and Harriet), so I know how much joy (and annoyance
) they can bring to you. I'll certainly miss them when they're gone, and that's something I'm really not looking forward to. I think I'll just have to remember how affectionate they both are, how dopey Hank can be yet how oddly amazing a hunter he is and how much of a cuddley princess Harriet is, how they always disappear to play/hunt, but how they always come running no matter where they are when I call them. They're always around when I'm working outside as well... They love featuring in my photos
People who don't know can't always assume a cat only uses their owners for food and shelter. Those of us that have cats know that's not at all true, and a cat loves you as much if not more than you do them. Going by your story Becky certainly loved, respected and trusted you guys very much
Rest in peace Becky

Sorry to be reading of the loss of a loved family member.
I remember with great sorrow when I have said my final goodbyes to my cats. It's not an easy time, they become such an integral part of your life.
I am currently sans cat, and I do really miss having one roaming around the house and garden. But, being on the corner of a busy road, and having had a cat knocked down on a much quieter road in the past, we are waiting until we are in a better position to have another.

Our hearts go out to you Paul.
We are also cat people, grew up with them and have had a few in our new family now. We had something similar with our last cat, Smudge (also rehomed from a shelter), the medication went on a long time in comparison and the end wasn't nice to see but we were there with him. They are such great companions, its always hard when they pass as they are such a big part of our lives. Each one has their own personality that when they are gone it is as though a piece of your life has disappeared.
You gave her a home, fed her, sheltered her, loved her. And now you mourn for her because she was a part of the family and you're both such caring people, nothing wrong with that. The pain is raw now but you're only human Paul. Me and the family send our love. X

We've had a dog and a cat bow out in the last few weeks so can certainly appreciate the vacuum you're feeling. Cats are funny creatures, ours was purring all the way until the end. It's always a tough call but I'm sure you'd wish for the same and I think it helps to remember that. I think you can rest easy knowing you did the right thing, Paul.

Sorry to hear that Paul and Donald.
I'm not really a cat person purr se* (yes, bad pun intended, sorry
) but I am an animal lover in general, having had various pets since I was a child.
They might be animals, but they're still a family member (and probably one that you spend more time with and more time physically in contact with, than human family members!) so the bond is just the same imo and the grief is just as real.
*it should be noted that Lisa managed to sneak one into my house a few years ago and it's still here, sits on me and talks at me, so that must say something...

We lost our cat peaches this time last year. She died in front of us from a heart attack. It was horrible.
She's now sitting in our cat shaped urn and comes everywhere with us. Even to Inverness tomorrow.
Our Persian cat has only one eye and eye sight was poor in the remaining eye. Suddenly this last few days he's gone completely blind and its very sad to see him wobble about.
As with all pets you just pamper them with fuss and attention.
Keep then happy whilst you watch cat videos on YouTube.
Cat logic.
